Busy Day!

We were busy in our reading groups today! Here is what I did with the kidos:

We are still working on the letter K!

I love how this kitten has a fish.

I made a little bulletin board.
 Last one of the  year!

I am so glad tomorrow is Friday!
Nineteen days to go!

Hump Day

I have 20 work days left. In those days I have two field trips, flag day, field day, and a kindergarten moving up day! There is still a lot of teaching to do, too! Yikes.

Here are some pictures:
Another page for the ABC book.

Here is a little book we made.
I work with a student who wants to color everything red.
He even wears only red shirts everyday ( and sometime pants)!

Surprise! He did not ask to use red!

At the beginning of the year, before I started,
he would no even hold a pencil or crayon!

Here is two examples of his writing:
I am SO excited at the growth in this kido!

We are working on this letter:

I have 8 more letters to do before we make the books!

Well, that 's it for now!

Happy Reading

Long Weekend !

I am enjoying a four day weekend thanks to the holiday and all the soldiers who have defended my freedoms!

Last week we worked on the letter E. I ran out of time before I could finish the last picture.

Here is one of the kidos pictures (Not sure why he made a black egg. LOL):

I found a cute kindergarten blog through pinterest and there is a lot of cute stuff. Go check it out:

Kindergarten Smiles

We went on a walking field trip and had lunch at a local playground. The kids did pretty well. Only one kido cried on the walk back. Here's one of the cute kidos pic:

I have 23 more school days to go. June is going to be a long month!

Enjoy your weekend. I am SO envious of all the teachers who started their summer break this weekend!

Happy Reading!

Happy Friday

This past week was a busy one. I did not have time to take any pictures. I did take another picture of tutoring. We are still working on vocabulary building. Mu kido likes science so I try to find articles related to her interest.

We went on a field trip this week to see:
It was very cute. The kidos loved it!

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Moving Right Along

Here are some fun pictures from last week:

This kido makes me happy everyday!
We made those cute rainbows from pinterest. My kidos need a lot of cutting practice so they cut two clouds. I stuffed them with cotton. If I remember I'll take a shot of them on the bulletin board.

I made the O book this week using clip art. :)

On to Tutoring:
More Vocabulary building.
These are the words we discussed before the reading!

This board is activating prior knowledge.
This is what the kido knew about bears before we read.

Because I only have an hour with my kido I tutor, I will scribe for her sometimes. It saves time & she can see the correct way to spell words. Sometimes we talk about how to read those multisyllabic words.

Today I felt like this:

It was a tough day!

Happy Reading!

Some Pictures

Now that my students are getting better at reading, I am having them write a little more when we do letter work. Some kids love it!

Letter O Work last week. My kidos struggled with this letter.

The last one is an on/off switch.

We had left over "egg" cut outs.
We turned them into tulips. :)

In my tutoring session, I have moved onto boosting vocabulary. I began the lesson with a category before we read aloud. These are the words she gave me which I wrote for her. Then I gave her new vocabulary for the topic before she read aloud.

I think I need to read one of those professional books on how to teach and boost vocab. I could use some new ideas. :)

I have about 35 days of teaching left this year. How many does everyone else have left?

Here's a funny pic of a shirt I took at Target (because this is me. LOL):

Hope everyone has a great week.
Happy Reading!

May's Currently

I am a few days late with my posting of this month's "Currently"

Here is mine:

Listening: We DVR Jimmy Fallon and catch up on Saturdays. I think Jimmy is awesome!

Loving: It should warm up in the next few days- FINALLY!!

Thinking: Is it really already this late?

Wanting: I want contacts, a new coat, and a black maxi skirt.

Needing: I am tried of the dampness in the air & the sinus pressure I get from this constant rain!

Surprise: I went back to #13 on April's Currently & I am giving a shout out to this blog:
