This past week was a busy one. I did not have time to take any pictures. I did take another picture of tutoring. We are still working on vocabulary building. Mu kido likes science so I try to find articles related to her interest.
We made those cute rainbows from pinterest. My kidos need a lot of cutting practice so they cut two clouds. I stuffed them with cotton. If I remember I'll take a shot of them on the bulletin board.
I made the O book this week using clip art. :)
On to Tutoring:
More Vocabulary building.
These are the words we discussed before the reading!
This board is activating prior knowledge.
This is what the kido knew about bears before we read.
Because I only have an hour with my kido I tutor, I will scribe for her sometimes. It saves time & she can see the correct way to spell words. Sometimes we talk about how to read those multisyllabic words.
Now that my students are getting better at reading, I am having them write a little more when we do letter work. Some kids love it! Letter O Work last week. My kidos struggled with this letter.
The last one is an on/off switch.
We had left over "egg" cut outs.
We turned them into tulips. :)
In my tutoring session, I have moved onto boosting vocabulary. I began the lesson with a category before we read aloud. These are the words she gave me which I wrote for her. Then I gave her new vocabulary for the topic before she read aloud.
I think I need to read one of those professional books on how to teach and boost vocab. I could use some new ideas. :) I have about 35 days of teaching left this year. How many does everyone else have left? Here's a funny pic of a shirt I took at Target (because this is me. LOL):
