June 2017 and Vacation

The year ended and it was bittersweet. I loved my job this year teaching grades 5-7. Middle school really suited my personality. I can only hope I return next year. Every June I clean out a classroom and play the summer waiting game to see where I will be in September. I have been doing this for a long time and it never gets any easier!

Left by a 5th grade student!

Right after the school year ended the DH and I went on vacation. It was the most relaxing vacation. It helped us both recharge. I have one more week until I work in the summer reading program. It will be a nice 4 week program teaching reading three days a week which is just enough teaching time to still feel like I am on summer break.

Merry Christmas!

I had a busy week before break. I also have been sick, so I did not really feel like blogging in my free time. I felt like napping. LOL!

I have been enjoying my family on my break. My poor husband was sick and missed family dinner. I went to mass with my mom which was so nice. There was a children's choir this year. Loved it!

Before break started I did a few fun things with the kidos. Here are a few pictures.

Parent gift - fingers turned into snowmen

Holiday cards

I just love the way this kido draws.

The most exciting thing that happened since my last post was an early Christmas present.

I went on an interview for a reading teacher position. After three days of waiting I was called for a second interview. I GOT THE JOB!

I have my own room and will be teaching 4th and 5th grade reading. I am very excited and nervous. I have not done lesson plans in a year, so I have some serious planning to do! Next week, I will be busy, but I am so excited for this new adventure.

I hope everyone is enjoying their family time and had a blessed holiday!

Happy Reading!

Another blog is having a Linky Party about this reflections on the past year. I read one on My Life as a Fifth Grade Teacher and decided to do it myself. Some of it is personal and some of it is teacher related!

11. Favorite movie you watched: The Help

10. Favorite TV series: I am a true GLEEK and love Glee. Lately I have also been enjoying "Once Upon a Time." I love the writing and I have always been a fan of fairy tales!

8. Favorite new thing you tried: I have not tried anything new, so this is a difficult category. About 12 weeks I tried the black bean burger at Friday's and it was DELICIOUS! Sad - I know... I need to try more new things in 2012!

7. Favorite gift you received: The gift of "time." By this I mean the time I have to spend with DH, family, and friends!

6. Favorite thing you pinned: I love looking, but I have not pinned anything because I don't have an account. : (

5. Favorite Blog Post: Happy Poetry Month

4. Favorite Accomplishment: Maintaining my weight loss. A few years ago I worked hard to lose 50 pounds. I have managed to keep it off and still love working out and going spinning.

Last Day

I made it !

Today arrived and it was the:It was an enjoyable day. I went on a "Mystery Walk" with my one group of 4th graders. It was fun and LONG! However, we did reach our destination which was the local ice cream place! The kids had a treat and then we made it back to school with 5 minutes to spare before dismissal! LOL !
I went and said good-bye to each 4th grade class. Some girls gave me hugs which I though was so sweet! I will miss seeing some of my students everyday! I told them maybe I would see them next year in 5th grade.

My teaching life is up in the air for next year. Who knows where I will be? One thing is for sure, it is time to say: HELLO to SUMMER!!

Happy Summer Reading!!
