Kids Are Funny !

Today we celebrated the 100th Day of school. At the end of the day I gave the kids copies of the 100 dollar bill I had made with their faces in the middle. Here is what one kido said:

Kid: Look it is $100.

Teacher (me): Look in the middle.

Kid: Hey I am on the 100 dollars.

Teacher: Yes, I made that for you to take home.

Kid: I love it!

Teacher: Great. Let me put it in your folder to take home.

Kid: No, I am going to use it to buy snacks at the store.

I couldn't help but laugh. I wonder if he went home and told his Mom that he was given 100.00 today.

Happy Reading !

Back to Work

I was not a happy camper when the alarm went off at 6a.m. after sleeping until 8 for a week, but once I arrived at work I was fine. I found out today that I will be able to stay at the school until the end of the year. The teacher assistant who I replaced has extended her leave. That is good news for me.

Here are a few pictures of what is up next at school:
We drew pictures of B things today.
We are making these on Friday.

Tomorrow we celebrate the 100th day.
I copied these for each student.

This was from Valentine's Day.
I was sick for a few days and not in a blogging mood.

I hope everyone who returned to work today after their winter recess had an enjoyable day.

Happy Reading !

I hope everyone enjoyed their day!

I am now on vacation for a week. It would be better if I had not come down with an illness. BOO! I already have seen the doctor and have some medicine. I'll be resting for the first part of my vacation, then hopefully a little fun!

Happy Reading and Chocolate Eating!

Thought of the Day

Ahh.. Kindergarten

I had been busy getting different projects ready for this week. The kids will be a little crazy because we have 5 days until a week off. I am looking froward to the break even though it will be COLD!

Here are a few pics from this past week:
We had a parade around the school to celebrate the
Chinese New Year.

We will do this sometime this week.

Cute George Washington we will be making this week.

We have been working on the letter N so we made Nurse Nancy

This took the kids awhile to finish. They need practice at cutting and we always do one thing at a time.

My copy that the kidos use as a guide.
(Actually it belongs to the classroom teacher - LOL)

I read somewhere that it takes 6 weeks to develop a new habit. I have been in this kindergarten class for over 6 weeks now as the teacher assistant. I have learned a lot about 5 year old children. I still believe a class of 8 is about all I could handle in terms of 5 year olds. I am pretty confident that I could not be in charge of 20 kindergartners!

I have learned that giving simple directions helps with students who have special needs. I am enjoying my job, but I will admit that I miss my 2nd graders from last year! I already knew that I loved teaching reading, so my favorite hour is when I teach reading everyday. I have also gained a new found respect for teachers and parents of autistic children.

I hope everyone has a great week!
Happy Reading!

Football- WOO HOO !

I have been watching the NFL Network since 8:30 AM. I love football! I am looking forward to some snacks, pizza, and the game.

I am not sure who to root for this year. I like Pete Carroll. I also like Peyton Manning. HMMM. Any suggestions?

Its that time again and here is mine:

I love football and can't wait to watch the Superbowl. Next Sunday I wont know what to do with myself because I spend so much time watching football every Fall : )

I had some snow days this past month, but also some cold days where staff had to report. I did a lot of projects, but I'd rather teach.

I just asked the DH to go warm me up a soft pretzel with some mustard. I'm still waiting for it!

I have had the same phone for almost 4 years. I love my Iphone, but I am thinking of buying myself one for my b-day in March.

It was too cold to go to the gym. Once I was in my cozy home, I did not want to go anywhere. I did manage a mall walk with the DH on Thursday night when we had out heat wave of 25 degrees. LOL. This was after 3 days of 0 degrees and -15 with the winds.

If you read my blog on a regular basis, the 2 truths and a fib should be easy. I usually post pictures of the pool every summer and I love shoes so much I will buy the same pair in two colors.
My FIB: I love to eat fish. I ate it as a kid, but then stopped liking it when I was about 15. I even tried all sorts of fish when I lived in Florida - I HATE it... the smell, the look, the taste!
